CHRISTMAS FAIR AT SIERRA BERNIA SCHOOL! – No Rain, No Pain!
Luckily, the big storm clouds over Alfaz del Pi rained themselves out by last Friday the 14th of December just in time for Sierra Bernia School’s annual Christmas fair.
As is customary, the big day for Primary kicked off with a rousing rendition of our most popular Christmas Carols including Silent Night and Jingle Bells amongst many others, getting all the children and staff into the Christmas spirit.
Meanwhile, the Secondary students were hotting up for their Christmas Paella Competition which, after much careful deliberation by our panel of judges; was won by “Team Carlos” and his merry band of helpers who demonstrated not only great teamwork; but also rather excellent cooking skills! Due to the high level of expertise shown by our teams of “Mater Chefs”, all the staff are now asking to be on the next year’s judging table!
After that it was time to judge the Christmas Tree Costumes and then onto the main event of the day; the Christmas Fair!
Each class from Nursery through to Year 6 worked very hard to each make a Christmas decoration and some type of Christmas treat to sell; ranging from recycled wreaths and twinkling stars to marsh mellow Christmas trees and mince pies.
As is customary, the Year 6 students were invited to take responsibility for acting as the stall vendors, encouraging them to use their mathematical skills in real life situations, which yet again, they did extremely well.
As ever at SBS, all family members were invited to participate, with our “Great Christmas Family Bake Off Challenge” with Alejandro from Year 5 and family, as the lucky winners. Pupils, staff and families had a great time at the stalls and games whilst enjoying the glorious Mediterranean sun we are still so lucky to have here at this time of the year.
