As part of our ongoing work at Sierra Bernia School, we were pleased to be able to run exciting campaigns and competitions this term, the purpose of which are to inspire children to get involved in activities to improve their literacy (and have lots of fun at the same time!).
Creating a reading competition for pupils can get those who wouldn’t normally be reading, reading. Even the most reluctant readers love a good challenge.
This year we introduced for the first time the “Sierra BerniaReading Competition “ which took place at “Casa de Cultura” in Alfas del Pi.
Secondary students were divided into five teams: PRANCER, DASHER, DANCER, CUPID and VIXEN; all students were required to read four books (i.e. HOLES, CIRQUE DU FREAK, VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE and BUTTERFLY LION). Then students were asked to write seven questions and seven answers concerning their books.
WINNING: The winning team was determined by a point system. The winning was TEAM VIXEN!!!
